University of Scranton Confers Master's and Doctoral Degrees
The University of Scranton conferred nearly 600 master's and doctoral degrees at its graduate commencement ceremony on May 26 in the Byron Recreation Complex. Graduates recognized at the ceremony include those who completed their degree requirements in August and December of 2017, as well as January and May of 2018.

Spring 2018 Dean's List Announced
A total of 1,621 students have been named to the Dean's List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Spring 2018 semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the Dean's List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade "B" earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade "A" earns 4 quality points per credit.

ESU Student Voted to Active Minds Board of Directors
East Stroudsburg University student Raquel Sosa has been elected president of the Student Advisory Committee (SAC) of Active Minds, Inc. Sosa, a junior majoring in psychology from Wilkes-Barre, Pa., is also president of ESU's chapter of Active Minds. Active Minds, Inc. is a national nonprofit organization that empowers students to speak openly about mental health and combats stigma surrounding mental illness through different events and program initiatives. The SAC is comprised of 20 student leaders from the entire Active Minds chapter network of over 400 chapters. The SAC's primary role is to contribute the student voice to Active Minds' efforts and to advise national staff in the areas of student engagement, fundraising, program planning, and promotion. As the SAC president, Sosa will sit on the board of directors for the national organization and attend and participate in board meetings in Washington, D.C.

Computing and Information Honor Society Induction
University of Scranton students inducted into Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the only existing international honor society in the computing and information disciplines. Undergraduate requirements for induction into the honor society include junior academic standing, completion of 18 credits in computing sciences and a grade point average of 3.2 or higher. Graduate requirements for induction include completion of 15 credits in software engineering courses and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. The University's chapter of the honor society was established in 1985.

Wilkes University Students Participate in Second Annual Wyoming Valley Undergraduate History Conference, Feb. 21
The Wilkes University history department will host the second annual Wyoming Valley Undergraduate History Conference on Feb. 21. The conference will take place from 4-7 p.m. in the Cohen Science Center, 140 S. River St., Wilkes-Barre. The conference features research presentations by 11 students from four colleges and universities. In addition to Wilkes, participating schools include Kings College, Marywood University and University of Scranton. The conference is free and open to the public.

Cedar Crest College 2017-18 Annual Day of Service
Cedar Crest College believes that being civically engaged in one's community is a critical step in one's life journey. Each year during New Student Orientation, students are provided an opportunity to begin their civic journey by volunteering during our annual Day of Service. This opportunity allows students to serve others while demonstrating learning, connection, and caring involvement in the surrounding community. The Class of 2021 teamed up with faculty and staff members, Interim President Elizabeth Meade, and the Friends of the Allentown Parks for the college's Day of Service on Saturday, August 26, 2017. The group cleaned up the grounds between Fountain Park and Valania Park in Allentown. Later in the day the group walked to Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ at 620 Hamilton Street, where Cedar Crest College held its first classes on September 5, 1867, for a photo.

Community Submissions For Exhibit Being Accepted
Active Minds, an East Stroudsburg University student organization that strives to change the conversation about mental health, is accepting submissions for an upcoming art exhibit titled Piece of Mind: An Exhibit with a Focus on Mental Health. Submissions will be accepted in the mediums of drawing, graphic design, painting, and visual poetry/spoken word. Each piece should depict something related to mental health.

America Reads and America Counts is a tutoring opportunity that works with local children in before school, during school and after school programs to help children develop and improve their reading and math skills. Cedar Crest College 2017-18 Preterite Club Officers
Preterite, Cedar Crest College's Literary Club, is devoted to increasing the understanding and appreciation of literature through such events as discussions of literary works and the presentation of videos, films, readings and lectures by established writers. To encourage literary interest and creativity, Preterite sponsors activities during National Poetry Month, an annual writing contest open to all students, and is the publisher of "In Other Words" the College's literary magazine. Cedar Crest College Students Participate in National FUSE Conference
Pitch is Cedar Crest College's electronic arts and literature journal. It is published and edited by those with a love for creative expression, featuring an editorial board composed of Cedar Crest students, alumnae and faculty. Pitch editors Michelle Chavez and Rachel Wielgopolski presented at the 2017 "Resistance and Representation" National FUSE conference (Forum for Undergraduate Student Editors) on November 2nd-4th at Cabrini University. The editors presented "Making an Editorial Policy From Start to (Almost) Finish," focusing on issues of diversity and inclusion in undergraduate publications. Students Nicole Roberts and Miranda Alvarez also participated. The students were accompanied by Alison Wellford, Assistant Professor of Writing.

Juniors at Wilkes University were elected to serve the Wilkes community as members of the student government. Student Government is the major decision- and policy-making organization for the student body at Wilkes University, providing student input on University policy and governing extracurricular life at Wilkes. Kutztown University Announces Degrees
Kutztown University has conferred degrees on more than 1,200 students during the winter and spring semesters. Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish their requirements for graduation throughout the entire year. The cumulative grade point average necessary for honor distinction is: with honor (cum laude) 3.40; with high honor (magna cum laude) 3.60 and with highest honor (summa cum laude) 3.80. Sigma Tau Delta Inducts New Members
Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society, was established in 1924 to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies. An undergraduate candidate for membership shall have a minimum of two college courses in English language and literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. The candidate shall have the minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship (a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale), shall rank at least in the top thirty-five percent of his/her class, and shall have completed at least three semesters or five quarters of college course work. A graduate candidate for graduate membership who did not hold undergraduate membership shall be enrolled in a graduate program in English or one of its specializations, have completed 6 semester hours of graduate work or the equivalent, and have a minimum of a B+ or equivalent average in his/her graduate studies (a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale).
